Current Known Issues

  • System Requirements:
    • Windows: PC with Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8 or Windows 10
    • Mac: Intel® Mac with Mac OS X 10.9 or later
    • Latest version of Chrome, Safari or Firefox browsers. 
  • Where is Gobbler?: Look up on the menubar for a "G". Click on it and login
  • Stuck Transfers: In case a transfer is stuck, you may need to quit and restart the app to get the transfer un-stuck.
  • User Avatars: Gobbler 2.0 supports Gravatar. This is an optional step in filling out a Gobbler 2.0 profile and attaches a picture to all publishing activity within a Workspace.
  • No file upload from web: Currently, users need to use File Drop feature in Helper app to upload project files to the desired workspace. Uploading via a browser will be supported with upcoming iterations, so please stay tuned.

    An iOS app is definitely in the near future, for Gobbler 2.0. Currently, however, we don't have one available.

    What's happened to this application? Just installed V2 and can't find any way to do the absolute main thing simple I use this for - send files to people. I don't need all the collaborative stuff currently. I don't want to invite people to join workspaces etc, with the people I'm dealing with it'll confuse the hell out of them. I just need to send them files that they can click to download, can you still do this?

    All I want to do is back up. As far as I can tell, the app doesn't work at all. I've yet to successfully get a single project to upload. Obtuse interface and terminology ("workspace"? Puh-leeeese). I have zero interest in collaboration, and I've been happily paying for the service for a couple of years. Now I find out I'm being booted from 1.0? This is idiotic.

    I also paid for this service to purely perform backups of all my Pro Tools projects. I am struggling to work out to perform a backup of my projects. It states to drag a session file to the 'G' but when I do this all that gets uploaded is the session file. All the audio tracks etc do not get uploaded. Am I missing something here. Has Gobbler ditched the backup idea just for collaboration.
    I hadn't tried the beta for 2.0 because all the announcements indicated I should stay with 1.0 but now I get an email telling me all my data will be removed from 1.0 from 1st of December. 2.0 is still in beta and doesn't seem to do what I was using 1.0 for. What is going on.

    What Kevin said. As a Windows user I can't even use 2.0. I also have no interest in collab features. The whole point of this software was set-and-forget backups of audio projects. If that feature is gone, there is no point to use it any more for me.

    I agree with all of this. The whole purpose I started using Gobbler was to back up and send files. Looks like I'll be going back to Dropbox till this gets ironed out and they bring back normal functionality.

    Agree with all the above. The interface is confusing. There is no way to confirm what has been backed up, let alone access the archives. And you can delete activity in the main browser window, but the assets remain? No management capability in the sidebar? I guess G1 is sticking around for now, but I don't have any use or confidence in G2 at all at the moment.

    I have to agree with all of these comments so far. I've created one test workspace and uploaded one Logic project to test. At least I "think" I did. It has the name but there is no way to validate this. So what if I modify that project? Do I have to drag and drop the main logic file again? Will it upload the whole project again or will upload just changes? Is it keeping multiple versions or just the latest? I realize this is still VERY BETA code. But it just seems to be lacking most of it's functionality as well. I'll keep checking I guess to see how things progress.

    There's no way you guys came up with this after listening to what your customers wanted. You just went off on your own thinking you know best. Look, let us easily BACKUP, SEE (!!!) and SEND files. Collaborating can be a secondary module.

    Agreed... Very disappointed in the features here. Granted, this is beta. But regardless, I'm currently looking elsewhere for simple cloud backup for sessions at this point. The core user base seems abandoned by this. Shame.

    I tried installing Gobbler 2 about five times. I quit Gobbler 1 beforehand and also did the "control+click" option to open the program. I can't get it to open no matter what I try. Running OSX 10.8.5 I also restarted and looked up in the top right hand corner or my screen. It doesn't work. I'm back on Gobbler 1, which has been great!

    Yep, installed 2.0, and it wont work. back to V1 which also isn't working, hanging on transfers. Bummer, just trying to get some work done here. Mailing hard drives is fun!

    None of my files can be seen in v2.0, yet I still have the data usage showing up on the website. So now, am I doubling the data usage? I find this confusing as well.

    Running OSX 10.8.5 it appears the newest beta has broken compatibility with my system now. when I open the app it appears briefly in my finder bar and then disappears. Anyway we can get this fixed!!!! Pretty impossible to beta test any piece of software if you can't open it. I certainly won't attempt to move to Yosemite for this app alone, especially considering 85% of the applications I use don't support it (at least without a ton of bugs) just a professional looking for a professional tool ;)

    Assets don't even have the ability for me to download them from any point of your website or app.

    I don't understand how a core functionality of 1.0 doesn't function AT ALL in your 2.0 beta that you guys are forcing everyone on to.

    So, there's no way to stop Gobbler 2 from launching at startup? The preferences panel gives me my email address and nothing else. I cannot find any information anywhere on uninstalling Gobbler. I hope trashing it does the job, which I'm doing because Gobbler 2 is the MOST opaque application I have ever encountered. I though apple was bad about thinking they know how I like to work, but Gobbler asks you to blindly believe that it is backing everything up with absolutely no way of accessing or viewing assets directly.

    any idea what is going on ? i have been off the net for a while due to my location and logged in today and nothing backed up

    i deleted all workspaces and started again with a test back up - uploaded it and then added to it and nothing seems to be automatically backing up

    do you have manually back everything up now - ? thanks

    I am vijay Rathinam, a sound designer. I have been using gobbler for a while now..I have a 100 GB storage plan. My id is svijayrathinam@gmail.com. I have faced some issues lately. When I send files, the client says the link is invalid or dead link etc....these sort of issues started popping up lately and then I wrote to the customer care and I didn't get any response..I hope that u will respond now.... I really like Gobbler it is very fast...but at the same time I believe there should be some changes required especially with gobbler 2. I am still using gobbler 1.0 mainly because of the interface. The gobbler 1.0 interface is so good especially for sending it to non gobbler users. I don't see that option in gobbler 2.0 app. Also gobbler 1.0 shows the speed at which the file is uploading but gobbler 2.0 doesn't show that. These are mainly a killer feature for me. Also I would like to have the functionality of sending files to non gobbler users and gobbler users alike...I don't see that in gobbler 2.0. A customer care call centre could be very useful...instead of sending emails and waiting for ever..!!! Even if you charge a premium fee for call support I would prefer that. Also is there a way to buy more storage ?

    Gobbler gave up replying to my support tickets - I think they consider Gobbler2 to be "finished" now, so whatever it's intended use is, I think it's time for us Gobbler1 users to jump ship and move on unfortunately.

    yeah - i have nt received a reply from a support ticket which did get a reply a very long time ago - it just has nt been followed up - despite me writing to them a couple of times to see what is happneing

    i cannot use gobbler2 at all - automatic back up or manual upload impossible as it crashes as soon as i open the app - im back on gobbler 1 which works ok but very up for finding an alternative

    I have also sent several support emails. I have been posting on their facebook page every week and have got nothing back. Even though I see them posting stuff on facebook they don't bother to listen to their customers. It is very disappointing because I really loved Gobbler 1 and the company when they first started but since they started Gobbler 2 it has been a disgrace.
    Gobbler 2 to me is not even a beta it is an alpha. I have never heard of a company stopping their money making production system to work on a alpha version for free. They obviously don't care to make money. Based on this experience if they ever go back to a paid system I will be leaving. I am just trying to find the next best affordable online backup solution.
    They are also going to be the rental system for Slate Digital plugins and if this is the support you will get then Slate Digital have made a very bad decision using them. Or maybe that is why they don't care about us because they are to busy working on the rental system instead.
    The last update of Gobbler 2 I saw was a joke. They did a whole video detailing that you can now drag a file to the icon on the menu bar without having to click on the icon first to open the application. Wow.

    I originally had 50GB of storage in my account. Now it is showing on 5.5GB in my account. What is going on Gobbler?

    In my case, Gobbler is just downloading on MacOS but not installing. I have to do this by hand. That is - in one word - shit.
